Kista Science Tower is a 32-story modern skyscraper completed in 2003 in Kista, Stockholm, designed by the architecture firm White. Standing 124 metres tall (407 feet) to its roof, or 156 metres (512 feet) with its antenna, it was briefly Sweden's tallest building before being surpassed by Turning Torso in 2005. The tower's distinctive feature is the black concrete cube perched atop its roof—originally intended as the top of an elevator shaft following cancellation of additional planned floors due to the early 2000s recession. The building houses technology and IT companies and features the country's fastest elevators, reaching speeds of 5 to 6 metres per second. Located adjacent to Kista Galleria shopping centre and Kista metro station, it remains Scandinavia's tallest office building.
