The old Komische Oper was a privately operated opera house located in Berlin-Mitte on Friedrichstraße 104, near the Weidendammer Bridge, distinct from the present-day Komische Oper Berlin at Behrenstraße 55–57. The name derived from the Parisian Opéra-Comique tradition rather than comic opera in the modern sense.
