Loockerman Hall, a large Georgian brick plantation home measuring 40 by 50 feet, stands on the campus of Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. Built before 1730, the two-story structure served as the first building of Delaware State College when it was established in 1891 as the State College for Colored Students by act of the Delaware General Assembly. The hall thus embodies the origin of Delaware's pioneering efforts in higher education for African-American students. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
