Ludwigslust Palace is a neoclassical schloss in the town of Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in northern Germany, designed by architect Johann Joachim Busch. Originally erected as a hunting lodge and later rebuilt as a ducal retreat from the capital at Schwerin, the palace became the center of government from 1765 to 1837. The estate takes its name from Prince Christian Ludwig, heir to the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, for whom it was a favored residence. Today it stands as an architectural heritage monument in the region.
