The Lyman C. Joseph House, also known as Louisiana, stands at 438 Wolcott Avenue in Middletown, Rhode Island. Designed by architect Clarence Sumner Luce and completed in 1882, it exemplifies the Shingle style in its early phase of development. Built for the Josephs family of Baltimore, the house gained architectural recognition shortly after construction, though it is distinguished less by grandeur than by its comparative restraint and modest proportions—a marked contrast to the ostentatious summer estates of nearby Newport. The structure remains well preserved and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
