Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore's Downtown Core, designed by Moshe Safdie and completed in 2010. At its opening, it was the world's most expensive standalone casino property, costing S$8 billion. The sprawling 20-hectare complex combines a 1,850-room hotel, a 120,000-square-metre convention facility, a 74,000-square-metre luxury shopping mall, an ArtScience museum, a 2,183-seat theatre, restaurants, and a casino with 500 tables and 3,000 gaming machines. Its iconic centrepiece is the Sands Skypark, a 340-metre skyway connecting three towers and topped by a 150-metre infinity swimming pool set on the world's largest public cantilevered platform, overhanging the north tower by 66.5 metres. The resort also houses the world's first floating Apple store and the world's first Louis Vuitton Island Maison. Construction faced delays due to material cost escalation and labour shortages exacerbated by the 2008 financial crisis, and the resort opened in stages throughout 2010.
