Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois, is a distinctive 1939–41 hospital built to serve U.S. military veterans across Southern Illinois and neighboring states. Unique among second-generation VA hospitals constructed between 1920 and 1950, it was designed in Egyptian Revival style to honor the region's "Little Egypt" nickname. The building's striking architectural features—including a pyramidal roof, projecting pavilion, and smooth outer walls adorned with multicolored ornamentation—make it the sole VA hospital of its era to employ this style. The facility was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 as the Marion Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District.
