Built in 1902 in Menominee, Michigan, the Menominee Opera House stands in the Historic Waterfront District as a Queen Anne style structure designed by architect George O. Garnsey. Originally conceived as an opera house and auditorium, it later served as a movie theater. Garnsey, known for his work on prominent civic and residential projects including the Ogle County Courthouse in Oregon, Illinois and Queen Anne residences such as the Ellwood House in DeKalb, Illinois, brought his characteristic architectural sensibility to this entertainment venue.
