Mount Oval is a historic farmhouse in south central Ohio, south of Circleville, built in the 1830s by William Renick following his marriage to Jane Boggs. Constructed of brick with a metal roof and elements of wood and stone, the house exemplifies Palladian architecture, displaying design elements patterned after Villa Capra, the celebrated Palladian mansion in northern Italy. The Renicks transformed the property into a prominent center of cattle farming, becoming the first farmers in the region to supply cattle to the East Coast—a significance reflected in the house's distinctive interior room dedicated to the needs of cattlemen. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, Mount Oval stands as one of the earliest documented historic sites in Pickaway County, valued for its distinctive architectural character.
