The New Providence School Gymnasium in New Providence, Iowa, is a distinctive Moderne-style structure built between 1935 and 1936 as part of the Public Works Administration program. Designed by the Des Moines firm Keffer-Jones—one of 32 PWA school buildings they created—and constructed by J.E. Lovejoy Construction Company, the building is most notable for its round form, believed to be Iowa's first gymnasium purpose-built with a circular design. Originally serving the local school for fifty years, it hosted basketball tournaments, graduations, and various sporting, musical, dramatic, and community events before being repurposed as a community center. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
