The Norton Simon Museum is an art museum in Pasadena, California, designed by architect Frank Gehry and originally built in 1942 as the Pasadena Art Institute. The museum houses an extensive collection of European paintings, sculptures, and tapestries alongside Asian sculptures, paintings, and woodblock prints. Its grounds feature notable outdoor sculptures, including Rodin works near the entrance and additional pieces arranged along Colorado Boulevard and around a large pond. Inside, the Norton Simon Theater presents daily film programs and hosts lectures, symposia, and musical and dance performances throughout the year. The building's distinctive brown tile exterior is visible along the route of the Tournament of Roses Parade, making it a recognizable landmark during the annual television broadcasts.
