Palace Staufeneck in Piding, Bavaria, is a 12th-century fortress originally built by the Burggrafen von Staufeneck. Following its transfer to the Erzstift Salzburg in 1307, it functioned as a maintenance court in the Rupertiwinkel region from 1365 to 1805. The castle's present appearance stems from a fundamental transformation undertaken in 1503 under Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach. Passing into private hands in 1894, the structure served as a museum during the 20th century before undergoing complete renovation and returning to residential use.
