Stolzenfels Castle, a former medieval fortress on the left bank of the Rhine near Koblenz, Germany, originated in the 13th century before falling into ruin. In 1823, the castle was gifted to the Prussian crown prince Frederick William, who commissioned its transformation into a 19th-century palace in Gothic Revival style under architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The reconstructed castle now stands as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley and remains a designated cultural monument in Rhineland-Palatinate.
