The Phoenix Opera House Block in Rushville, Illinois, is a rare surviving example of a combined opera house and commercial building. Constructed in 1882, it featured retail and office spaces on the ground floor with an opera house above, which presented traveling performers, theater companies, and local social gatherings until its closure in 1910. As churches began organizing community events and a movie theater opened, the opera house fell into disuse; it later served as a Masonic lodge from 1924 to 1956. The building was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
