Pillnitz Palace stands on the right bank of the River Elbe at the eastern edge of Dresden in Saxony, a restored Baroque castle that served as the summer residence for the region's Saxon electors and kings. The complex comprises three principal structures: the Baroque Riverside Palace (Wasserpalais) fronting the river and the Baroque Upper Palace (Bergpalais) on the hillside, both enriched with Chinoiserie elements, along with a later Neoclassical New Palace that connects them on the eastern side. These buildings frame a Baroque garden and are set within an expansive public park. The site gained historical significance as the setting for the Declaration of Pillnitz in 1791. Today the palace houses the arts and crafts museum of the Dresden State Art Collections and a castle museum.
