Demolished or destroyed.
The former Presidential Palace in Grozny was a Soviet Modernist structure that stood at the center of the Chechen capital until its destruction during the Chechen conflict. Built in the Checheno-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, the palace became an iconic symbol of resistance for supporters of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in the early stages of the conflict. The building sustained extensive damage from repeated artillery and air strikes before being completely demolished by the Russian army in 1996.
