Q1 Tower, a 322.5-metre residential skyscraper on Australia's Gold Coast, was completed in 2005 by the Sunland Group and held the distinction of being the world's tallest residential building until 2011. The tower remains Australia's tallest building and the second-tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, surpassed only by the Autograph Tower in Jakarta. Officially opening in November 2005, Q1 has been recognized as an iconic symbol of Queensland, celebrated during the state's 150th-birthday commemorations.
