The Sri Vidhya Rajagopalaswamy Temple in Mannargudi, Tamil Nadu, is a major Vaishnava shrine dedicated to Rajagopalaswamy, a form of Krishna, alongside his consort Sri Sengamala Thayar (Lakshmi). Originally built by the Chola king Kulothunga Chola I in the tenth century and later expanded by Chola rulers Rajaraja Chola III and Rajendra Chola III before further development by the Thanjavur Nayaks in the sixteenth century, the temple spans 9.3 hectares and ranks first among the 108 Abhimana Kshetrams in the Vaishnava tradition. The complex features Dravidian architecture, including a 47-meter rajagopuram (gateway tower), a celebrated granite perimeter wall known as the "Mannargudi Mathil Alagu," and nine sacred water bodies—the most prominent being Haridra Nadhi, one of India's largest temple tanks. The temple hosts six daily rituals and three annual festivals, with the chariot festival during the Tamil month of Panguni marking the most significant celebration.
