Tirupavalavannam temple, located in Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, is a Dravidian-style Hindu shrine dedicated to Vishnu, worshipped here as Pavalavannar Perumal alongside his consort Lakshmi. One of the 108 Divya Desams—sacred sites celebrated by the Alvar saints in the early medieval Tamil canon (6th–9th centuries CE)—the temple is believed to have been constructed by the Cholas, with subsequent enhancements by later Chola and Vijayanagara rulers. Inscriptions on its walls date from the reigns of Rajadhiraja Chola (1018–1054 CE) and Kulothunga Chola I (1070–1120 CE). The temple features a seven-tiered rajagopuram gateway tower and is enclosed by a granite wall that encompasses multiple shrines and two bodies of water. Six daily rituals and three yearly festivals are performed here, with the Brahmotsavam celebration in the Tamil month of Vaikasi (May–June) being the most prominent observance.
