Located in Srivaikuntam, a town 22 kilometres from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district, the Srivaikuntanathan Perumal Temple is a Dravidian-style shrine dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped here as Vaikunthanathar alongside his consort Lakshmi as Vaikunthavalli. One of the 108 Divya Desams—temples canonized in the early medieval Tamil devotional text the Nalayira Divya Prabandham (6th–9th centuries CE)—it also holds significance as part of the Nava Tirupati, nine temples revered by the saint Nammalvar along the Tamiraparani river. The temple's architectural elements include a 110-foot granite rajagopuram (gateway tower) and a surrounding granite wall enclosing its shrines and two of its three reservoirs. Noteworthy is the Thiruvengadamudayan hall, which houses rare life-size sculptures commissioned during the 16th century. Administered by the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Endowment Board, the temple observes six daily rituals and hosts three yearly festivals, most prominently the ten-day Brahmotsavam held during Chittirai (April–May).
