The Vanamamalai Perumal Temple, also known as the Arulmigu Sree Vanamamalai Totatri Perumal Temple, is a Dravidian-style Hindu shrine dedicated to Vishnu on the banks of the Thamiraparani river in Nanguneri, Tamil Nadu. Among the 108 Divya Desams—revered Vishnu sanctuaries celebrated in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the 6th–9th century Tamil canon of the Alvar saints—this temple stands as one of eight Svayambu Kshetrams, temples believed to have manifested of their own accord. Tradition holds that it was originally built by the Pandyas, with later enhancements by Vijayanagara kings and Madurai Nayaks. Spanning 5 acres and crowned by a five-tiered tower, the temple is administered by the Vanamamalai Mutt and hosts six daily rituals and a dozen annual festivals, most notably the chariot festival celebrated during Chittirai (March–April).
