Located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the Pandava Thoothar Perumal Temple is a Dravidian-style shrine dedicated to Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu, and his consort Rukmini. Among Kanchipuram's three oldest temples, it is believed to have been founded by the Pallava dynasty in the late 8th century, with subsequent embellishments from the Medieval Cholas and Vijayanagara rulers. The temple's walls bear three inscriptions—two from the reign of Kulothunga Chola I (1070–1120 CE) and one from Rajadhiraja Chola (1018–1054 CE)—attesting to its long architectural evolution. A granite enclosure surrounds the entire complex, encompassing the shrine, secondary sanctuaries, and two water tanks, while a four-tiered rajagopuram serves as the principal gateway tower. Recognized as one of the 108 Divya Desams sacred to Vaishnavism, the temple is celebrated in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil devotional canon of the Alvar saints (6th–9th centuries CE). The temple maintains six daily rituals and three annual festivals, with Krishna Janmashtami in the month of Avani (August–September) as the most significant observance.
