Sivayoginathar Temple, also known as Yoganandeswarar Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in Thiruvisanallur in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. Built primarily during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century, with expansions continuing through the 16th century under the Thanjavur Nayaks, the temple exemplifies Dravidian architecture and features a prominent five-tiered gateway tower (gopuram). The deity is venerated in the 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical work the Tevaram and classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam, a site revered by the nayanar saints Thirugnanasambandhar and Appar Swamy. The temple complex contains multiple shrines, halls, and three precincts, with the principal sanctuaries dedicated to Sivayoginathar and his consort Soundaranayagi. The temple maintains an active ritual calendar featuring four daily services and five yearly festivals, notably the Aippasi mahothsavam celebrating the five pancha moorthis. Now administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu, the temple preserves numerous inscriptions documenting patronage from the Pandyas, Cholas, Nayaks, and Marathas.
