Chakravageswarar Temple, a Dravidian-style Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva in Chakkarapalli, Papanasam taluk, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, stands among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams—temples sanctified in the 7th-century Tamil devotional hymns of Thevaram. The Nayanar saints Appar and Tirugnana Sambandar honoured the temple with verses during the 7th and 8th centuries. Substantially enlarged by Chola kings in the 11th century, the temple maintains active worship through six daily rituals conducted between 8:00 a.m. and 8 p.m., complemented by four annual festivals. The Panguni Uthiram festival, celebrated during the Tamil month of Panguni (March–April), stands as its most significant observance. The temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of Tamil Nadu.
