Metraleeswarar Temple in the Pillaiyar Palayam area of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva and built in Dravidian architectural style. Revered in the 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical work the Tevaram by the nayanars, it ranks among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalam temples mentioned in that sacred text. The temple is believed to have undergone significant expansion during the 13th century under the Later Cholas, as evidenced by inscriptions on the site. Today it maintains a full liturgical calendar with four daily rituals performed between 5:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., and observes three yearly festivals, including the prominent Thirugnana Sambanda Gurupuja and Panguni Uthiram celebrations in March–April. The temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
