Dedicated to the god Shiva, the Ona Kantheeswarar Temple stands in Panjupettai, Kanchipuram district, in Tamil Nadu's Dravidian architectural tradition. The shrine is one of 275 temples revered in the Tevaram, a 7th-century Tamil Saiva canonical text authored by saint poets called the nayanars, and is classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam. Shiva is worshipped here as Ona Kantheeswarar alongside his consort Parvathi, known locally as Kamakshi. The temple features a modest three-tiered rajagopuram, or entrance tower, with all shrines situated on an elevated structure. Daily rituals are held between 5:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., while the calendar includes three annual festivals, with celebrations during the Tamil month of Margalhi (December–January) and on the Aipassi full moon (October–November) being particularly significant. The temple is administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
