Dedicated to Shiva and located in the village of Alangudi in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvarur district, the Apatsahayesvarar Temple is a Dravidian structure classified as a Paadal Petra Sthalam—a shrine revered in the 7th-century Tamil canonical work the Tevaram. The deity is worshipped as Apathsahyesvarar through a lingam, with Parvati honored as his consort Elavarkuzhali. Originally constructed by the Cholas, the temple's present masonry form dates to the 16th-century Nayak period. The two-acre complex features two five-tiered gopurams (gateway towers), one facing the main shrine and another oriented north, along with numerous subsidiary shrines. The temple maintains a full liturgical calendar with six daily rituals and four annual festivals, the most significant being Brahmotsavam, celebrated during Chittirai (April–May). Today it is administered by the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.
