The Masilamaniswara Temple in Thirumullaivoyal, located on the Chennai-Avadi road, is a Dravidian-style Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, believed to have been constructed by the Cholas in the 9th century with later additions from subsequent dynasties. Revered in the 7th-century Tamil Shaiva canonical work Tevaram and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam—a temple sanctified by the hymns of the nayanar saints Sundarar, Ramalinga Swamigal, and Arunagirinathar—the temple features five-tiered gopurams (gateway towers) and houses numerous shrines, with those of Masilamaniswarar and his consort Piraisoodi Amman being the most prominent. The temple maintains an active ritual schedule with six daily services and four yearly festivals, and forms part of the Sakthi triad of Tondaimandalam alongside temples at Tiruvottiyur and Minjur.
