The Raphael Hotel is a nine-story Italian Renaissance Revival structure located at 325 Ward Parkway in Kansas City's Country Club Plaza district. Originally opened in 1928 as Villa Serena Apartments, a luxury residential building, it was purchased by the J.C. Nichols Company in 1974 and converted into a 126-room hotel that reopened in 1975, modeled after intimate European properties. Its Renaissance Revival architecture was conceived to harmonize with the Spanish Colonial style of the surrounding Country Club Plaza, developed in the early 1920s. The property has been a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2001 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. It is now affiliated with the Marriott Autograph Collection.
