River Inn is a four-story brick hotel in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, completed in 1929 and designed by Boston architect Vernon A. Wright, whose father was among the city's founders. Distinguished by Indiana limestone trim and elements of Medieval Revival style—making it the only commercial downtown building in that architectural mode—the hotel replaced the Hotel Kaddatz as the city's premier accommodation. Built by the Lauritzen Construction Company, it served judges, jurors, and court visitors attending the Federal Courthouse across the street, a location that proved instrumental in keeping the courthouse from relocating to Detroit Lakes. Originally containing 96 rooms during Wright's ownership until his death in 1938, the building was managed by the Roberts Hotel Chain of Winona. After Al C. Kavli purchased the property in 1965, extensive renovation reduced the rooms to 15 and converted the remaining space into apartments. The River Inn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
