Completed in 1910 in downtown Mason City, Iowa, the Park Inn Hotel is a Prairie School masterpiece designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as a multi-purpose commercial complex. Commissioned by law partners James E. Blythe and J. E. E. Markley to rival a neighboring eight-story bank, Wright ingeniously integrated a 42-room hotel, banking facilities, law offices, rental office space, and basement shops into a single aesthetically unified structure. The building represents a transitional moment in Wright's career, serving as the prototype for his subsequent Midway Gardens in Chicago and the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Today it stands as the last remaining Frank Lloyd Wright-designed hotel in the world, of only six he designed, and remains a crucial example of his architectural innovation and spatial integration.
