The Robert Wilton Burton House stood at 315 E. Magnolia Street in Auburn, Alabama, a Queen Anne-style residence built in 1885 by the locally celebrated poet Robert Wilton Burton. Burton, a native of Camden County, Georgia, funded the construction through proceeds from his published poems, affectionately naming the dwelling "The Four Story Cottage." Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, the house was recognized as both a significant example of late-nineteenth-century vernacular cottage architecture and an important association with Burton (1848–1917), one of Auburn's most prominent citizens. Beyond his literary achievements, Burton served the community as clerk of the Town Council and secretary for the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University) Board of Trustees, and he established a bookstore to serve the institute's students. His daughter Miriam Barton Langston maintained the residence until 1977, when it was sold to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The house was dismantled in 1993.
