Rogers Centre is a retractable roof stadium in downtown Toronto, Ontario, designed by architect Rod Robbie and completed in 1989 on the former Railway Lands near the CN Tower and Lake Ontario's northern shore. Built in brutalist style, it was the first stadium to feature a fully retractable motorized roof and remains notable for its attached 348-room hotel, seventy of whose rooms overlook the field. Originally called SkyDome, the venue was renamed Rogers Centre following the corporation's 2005 purchase, though fans often retain the original name informally. Home to the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball, the stadium previously hosted the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association. Beyond sports, it accommodates conventions, concerts, circuses, and other large events, and served as the site of the 2015 Pan American Games opening and closing ceremonies.
