NRG Stadium, designed by Populous and completed in 2002 in Houston, Texas, is a retractable roof multi-purpose stadium with a seating capacity of 72,220. Built at a cost of $352 million, it was the first NFL facility to feature a retractable roof. The stadium serves as home to the Houston Texans and hosts the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Bowl, and matches for the U.S. men's national soccer team, among other events. It has hosted two Super Bowls (XXXVIII in 2004 and LI in 2017), the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship, WrestleMania 25 (2009), and matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Part of Reliant Park—a larger complex also including the Astrodome—the stadium operates under a 32-year, $300 million naming rights agreement with Reliant Energy dating to 2000.
