Shell Energy Stadium is a multi-purpose soccer venue in Houston, Texas, designed by Populous and opened in May 2012. As the first soccer-specific stadium built in a major American metropolitan downtown, it serves as home to Houston Dynamo FC of Major League Soccer, the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League, the Texas Southern Tigers football team, and the Houston Gamblers of the United Football League. The stadium was financed through combined commitments of $35.5 million from the city of Houston and $60 million from the Houston Dynamo Football Club, with Harris County contributing half the land cost in exchange for joint ownership. Located in East Downtown Houston on a tract bordered by Texas, Walker, Emancipation, and Hutchins streets, the stadium has carried its current naming rights sponsor, Shell Energy, since January 2023, following earlier naming agreements with BBVA USA and PNC Financial Services.
