Standing 30 meters tall on a hill above the Belaya River in Ufa, the Russia-Bashkir Monument of Friendship commemorates the 400th anniversary of Bashkortostan's accession to the Russian Empire. Designed by architect Yevgeny Kutyrev and constructed beginning in 1957, the postmodern structure opened to the public on 7 August 1965. The monument features a central stela flanked by two bronze sculptural figures seated on either side—allegorical representations of Russia and Bashkortostan, each holding laurel wreaths as symbols of peace. Inscribed in both Russian and Bashkir with the dedication "Glory to the Great Brotherly Friendship of the Russian and Bashkir Peoples" and the commemorative years "1557–1957," the monument combines granite, bronze, and concrete in its construction. Today it holds status as a federal cultural heritage site in Russia.
