The Church of Saint Anne in Trabzon is believed to be the city's oldest church, a Byzantine structure dating to the 6th or 7th century. After lying out of active use for more than a century, it underwent comprehensive restoration in 2021–22, during which layers of whitewash were removed to reveal its remaining frescoes. The restored building now functions as a museum, open to the public at no charge during daytime hours.
