Located in District 7 of Tehran, the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Mary, also known as the Church of the Annunciation of the Mother of God, was inaugurated in 1951 to serve the city's Greek community. Designed in the Pahlavi architectural style, the church stood at the intersection of Roosevelt and Takht-e Jamshid streets (later renamed Taleghani and Mofatteh following the 1979 Iranian Revolution). At its height in the 1960s and 1970s, the congregation numbered around 3,000 members, reflecting a once-thriving Greek Orthodox presence in Tehran.
