The Samuel Beckett Bridge is a cable-stayed swing bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava that spans the River Liffey in Dublin, connecting Sir John Rogerson's Quay on the south bank to Guild Street and North Wall Quay in the Docklands. Completed in 2009, the steel structure rises 48 metres and exemplifies Calatrava's characteristic architectural language, blending engineering with sculptural form. The bridge's functional design as a swing bridge allows it to rotate to permit passage of river traffic while serving as a major road crossing in Dublin's rejuvenated docklands district.
