Sather Gate, a Beaux-Arts and Neoclassical gate completed in 1910 at the University of California, Berkeley, marks the entrance to the campus proper, spanning Strawberry Creek and separating Sproul Plaza from the heart of the university grounds. Designed by architect John Galen Howard, the gate was donated by Jane K. Sather as a memorial to her husband Peder Sather, a trustee of the College of California, the institution that would become UC Berkeley. The structure has been recognized as both a California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
