Completed in 1920 on the Stanford University campus, the Lou Henry and Herbert Hoover House was designed by Lou Henry Hoover, wife of the future 31st U.S. president. Blending Spanish Colonial Revival, Mission Revival, and International Style elements, the residence stands as a significant early example of International Style architecture. Now serving as the official home of Stanford's president, the house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985 and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a California Historical Landmark.
