Schloss Drachenburg, perched on the Drachenfels hill in Königswinter on the Rhine's east bank south of Bonn, is a Gothic Revival villa completed in 1882–84 by architects Leo von Abbema, Wilhelm Hoffmann, and Bernhard Tüshaus. Commissioned by banker and broker Baron Stephan von Sarter, the structure was remarkably built in just two years, though its patron never inhabited it. Today owned by the State Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and designated an architectural heritage monument, the villa functions as a museum accessible via the nearby Drachenfels Railway.
