Schloss Eicks, a Renaissance mansion in the village of Eicks near Mechernich in North Rhine-Westphalia's Euskirchen district, stands as a layered record of regional architecture and ownership. First documented in the 14th century as a fortified water castle under the jurisdiction of Johann von Eicks, the original structure was destroyed in 1365. After the noble Eicks line ended, the property passed through several hands before Jürgen von Syberg-Wischlingen acquired it in the 16th century. Hermann Dietrich von Syberg commissioned a new manor in 1680, incorporating salvageable medieval components into a two-part complex comprising a three-winged castle and a separate manor house, both encircled by a moat. The Syberg family has maintained ownership for over five centuries; the castle remains private property, unavailable for public visiting but available for rental as an event venue.
