Schloss Rosenau, near Rödental in Bavaria, is a Gothic Revival country house designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, converted from an earlier castle. It is chiefly remembered as the birthplace and boyhood home of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who married Queen Victoria in 1840. Now an archaeological site and designated heritage monument in Bavaria, the palace reflects the nineteenth-century architectural tastes of the German princely courts.
