Sigmaringen Castle, the former princely seat of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family in the Swabian Alb region of Baden-Württemberg, dominates the skyline of its namesake town. Originally constructed in 1650, the castle was substantially rebuilt following a devastating fire in 1893, with only the medieval towers of the earlier fortress surviving. Though styled in Gothic Revival, the structure largely reflects its nineteenth-century reconstruction. The castle served as a residence for the Swabian Hohenzollern cadet branch until World War II, when it briefly housed the Vichy French Government during the final months of the war. Today, the castle functions as a military museum and remains in the hands of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen family, though it is now accessible to visitors only by guided tour.
