Perched on the island of Skomvær, about 15 kilometres southwest of Røstlandet in Røst Municipality, this Norwegian coastal lighthouse was established in 1887 and constructed from cast iron, rising 32 metres above the rocky shores of Nordland county. Automated in 1978, the tower now operates remotely, a transition marking the modernization of Norway's maritime infrastructure. The site itself was designated a protected cultural heritage area in 1999, reflecting its significance to local history and navigation. The lighthouse shares its name with the steel-hulled barque Skomvær, a vessel that drew her identity from the beacon she once guided mariners toward.
