Perched on the island of Jomfruland in Kragerø Municipality, Telemark county, this Norwegian coastal lighthouse has guided mariners since 1839, when its original brick tower was first lit. A cylindrical cast iron tower, built in 1939, now stands 31 metres tall and rises to 48 metres above sea level, painted white with a red roof. The light emits a continuous white beam punctuated by a brighter flash every 15 seconds, marking the treacherous waters off Norway's southern coast.
