The Songdo Convensia Convention Center, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and Baum, opened on October 7, 2008, as the first completed project in Songdo's new business district in South Korea. Its striking architecture, inspired by the Sydney Opera House, has quickly established it as a landmark structure. The facility's main exhibition hall features one of Asia's largest column-free spans at 472.4 feet, alongside two additional exhibition halls, 23 conference rooms, and 3 ballrooms. Donated to Incheon by Gale International and POSCO E&C, the center hosts international conferences, trade shows, and meetings, and has become a popular filming location. Its amenities include wireless internet throughout, RFID card systems, voice recognition cameras, and interpretation services in eight languages. In 2009, Songdo Convensia became the first convention facility in Asia to receive LEED New Construction 2.2 Certified rating.
