Built in 1988 as part of Darling Harbour's urban renewal, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre was a modern complex designed by architects Philip Cox and John Andrews, with Cox overseeing the exhibition spaces and Andrews the convention facilities. The venue served as a major hub for conferences and events until its controversial demolition in 2013 to accommodate the International Convention Centre.
