Designed by Populous and completed in 1998, Sydney Showground Stadium sits within Sydney Olympic Park and serves as a versatile venue for Australian rules football, cricket, and major equestrian events. Originally opened as the Sydney Showground Main Arena with a capacity of 21,500, the facility underwent expansion and renovation in 2011–2012, increasing its capacity to 23,500 (22,102 for cricket). It is home to the Greater Western Sydney Giants of the AFL and the Sydney Thunder of the BBL, while also hosting the flagship events of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, including the Grand Parade, equestrian competitions, and rodeos. The stadium is operated by the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales. During the 2000 Summer Olympics, it temporarily served as Sydney Baseball Stadium, hosting baseball and portions of the modern pentathlon.
